According to Public Information Officer Moroni Méndez, several people may have opened fire, although no arrests have been made so far. Investigation underway after the shooting
Authorities confirmed that at least three people died and five more were injured by gunfire or shrapnel. The identities of the victims have not yet been released as their families are being notified. Officer Méndez stated that it is unclear whether those involved knew each other or were part of rival groups. Police are maintaining an active investigation at the scene, which they described as extensive.
During the press conference, Méndez stated that although no arrests have been made, there is no ongoing threat to the public. Testimonies and emergency response
A witness cited by NBC affiliate KPNX reported that he had left the restaurant shortly before the gunfire erupted, which he described as more than 30 in total, in two bursts separated by a brief pause. The witness also assisted an injured woman and observed paramedics performing CPR on other victims.
The Mexican Consulate in Phoenix announced on its Facebook account that it is providing support to Mexican citizens who may have been affected by the shooting. Meanwhile, the local community is awaiting further official information on the cause of the incident and the condition of the injured.
