New testimony claims Kelsey Harris fired shots at Megan Thee Stallion, not Tory Lanez
During a recent press conference, a former bodyguard claimed to have overheard a confession implicating Kelsey Harris in the 2020 shooting, offering new perspective on Tory Lanez’s legal case.

Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper currently serving time for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, is once again at the center of public attention following a new testimony. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted on all related charges in 2022 and has remained behind bars for over a year. A recent statement from a key figure tied to the original case has reignited discussion surrounding his alleged involvement.
At a press conference held in Los Angeles on May 14 by advocacy group Unite The People, a man named Bradley James—identified as the former bodyguard of Kelsey Harris, Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-best friend—shared information that may shift public perception. According to James, he overheard a private conversation that suggested Harris, not Lanez, was the one who discharged the firearm on the night of the incident.
Bodyguard testifies Harris confessed to firing the weapon
James did not claim to witness the shooting but stated he overheard Kelsey Harris telling her husband that she had fired the weapon. His account was introduced by attorney Walter Roberts, who quoted James as saying that Harris shot Megan Thee Stallion three times before Tory Lanez intervened. “Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times,” Roberts stated. He emphasized that Lanez never touched or fired the weapon, aligning with earlier trial testimony by independent witness Sean Kelly.
Roberts also criticized the investigation process, particularly the handling of DNA evidence. He pointed out that while there were three individuals in the vehicle at the time, only Lanez’s DNA was tested. Unknown DNA was reportedly found on the firearm, raising questions about why the other occupants were not similarly tested. According to Lanez’s defense, DNA analysis showed only a 0.01% chance that Lanez had even touched the gun.
Lanez recovering after reported stabbing in prison
The emergence of this new account coincides with a violent incident involving Lanez in prison. According to his team, the rapper was stabbed 14 times by another inmate currently serving a life sentence for murder. The assault reportedly resulted in collapsed lungs and required Lanez to be placed on a breathing device for recovery.
Lanez later addressed the situation via Instagram, where he informed fans that he was recovering well and in good spirits. The timing of both the new testimony and the prison attack has added complexity to his ongoing legal and personal challenges, leaving open questions about what impact—if any—these new claims may have on his case.
