Powerball Winner Scores $151,210 in Maryland After picking Golf-Inspired numbers
A Calvert County man's love for golf has turned into a winning strategy, earning him $151,210 Powerball price in a Dec. 21st drawing.
The lucky Powerball player drew inspiration for his numbers from a recent golf round and won in Maryland, lottery officials said. According to the Miami Herald, the man bought the ticket in a convenience store in Calvert County.
Although he won the Powerball, it's not the first time he has a Lottery success; he previously claimed a Mega Millions prize several years ago.

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, credited his lucky numbers to a memorable round of golf. "Someone in my group hit a blind hole-in-one, which is incredibly rare", he told Maryland Lottery officials. Inspired by the moment, he used numbers associated with the event to craft his winning ticket.
He matched four numbers plus the Powerball to win the initial $50.000 prize, which was multiplied 3x with a Power Play multiplier. Also, the man explained how his numbers came together.
- The number 1 symbolized the blind hole-in-one.
- The number 17 represented the hole where the feat occurred.
- The number 21 marked the day of the month.
- The two golf carts his group used were numbered 5 and 8, which he combined to form 58.
Also, the winner matched four numbers on the other four lines, giving him an additional $1,200, and a Double Play added another $10, bringing him to his grand total, according to the release.
The Powerball jackpot has not been hit since December 7th, 2024, according to the Powerball's website. The estimated jackpot is $220 million.

To win the Powerball jackpot, players must match all five white balls plus the red Powerball number. The odds of hitting the jackpot stand at an astonishing 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets are available for purchase on the day of each drawing, though prices and sales cutoff times vary depending on the state. Drawings take place every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. ET and are available for streaming online.
