A woman from Florida was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing her 12-year-old daughter and hiding her while she was still alive. On May 26, authorities found the girl suffering from serious lacerations on her face and neck. The girl was immediately taken for medical attention.
According to authorities, the child told them her mother, Gwendolyn Girard, had stabbed her in the face and neck and had then placed her under brush and left in a van. Law enforcement found Girard quickly and arrested her, and she has now admitted to stabbing her daughter, A nurse has reported that the child is now stable, but an investigation is ongoing.

Gwendolyn Girard has been charged after reportedly stabbing her 12-year-old daughter and trying to conceal her while she was still alive.
The Florida woman, 35 years old, is facing charges for aggravated battery and child abuse after deputies located the girl with cuts to her face and neck on May 26, according to a statement from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies stated the girl was weak and needed urgent medical care. Before being transport to a hospital, the girl told authorities that Girard has stabbed her with a knife and left her hidden under brush before fleeing in a gold van.
Officers from the Lee County Sheriff's Office subsequently located the van in North Fort Myers, with Girard inside. The van was impounded, and Girard was taken for questioning, and subsequently arrested.
During questioning, Girard reportedly admitted to the stabbing and revealed the location of the weapon used.
"In my 33-year career, there are only a handful of times that I have been speechless. This is one of those times. To attack a child with a knife... I can't understand it," Sheriff Bill Prummell said in a statement.

The 12-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital and received treatment for her injuries. The sheriff's office indicated she is in stable condition.
Girard is held at a local jail on a $750,000 bond pending extradition to the Charlotte Country Jail, according to the statement. This investigation is currently open and active.
"It is only by God's grace that she is still with us today, and I pray for her as she heals from the honorific incident," Prummell said. "Unfortunately, the mental trauma inflicted on her may never heal."
