Wildfire emergency in Carolina Forest: Evacuations ordered; roads shut down
Large wildfires have sparked throughout the state of South Carolina on Saturday amid dry, windy conditions.
On Saturday, wildfires raging across the state of South Carolina, including the popular Myrtle Beach area, have forced evacuations and road closures as emergency crews battle to contain the fast-moving flames. Strong winds and dry conditions have fueled the blazes, leaving communities on high alert.
Crews are actively working to contain the blazes in Horry and Georgetown counties. Furthermore, Horry County officials have temporarily closed International Drive between Highway 90 and the International Drive schools to support emergency response efforts for the Carolina Forest wildfire. The closure will remain in place until further notice.
Wildfire emergency in South Carolina
Firefighters are working around the clock to contain multiple wildfires, with some areas facing immediate threats. Carolina Forest, a heavily populated neighborhood in Myrtle Beach, has been one of the most affected regions, with thick smoke in the sky and flames coming dangerously close to residential areas.
Officials have urged residents in high-risk zones to evacuate as shifting winds continue to spread the fire unpredictably. Several roads, including key highways leading to and from Myrtle Beach, have been temporarily closed due to poor visibility and fire hazards.

Fire crews from Kershaw County and surrounding regions have been dispatched to assist in battling the blazes. Helicopters and ground units are currently working to slow the fire’s progress.
