Hays County evacuations and firefighting efforts amid multiple ongoing wildfires

On Tuesday afternoon, first responders in Hays County, Texas, sprang into action to tackle several wildfires, fueled by extreme fire weather conditions across Central Texas. The Hays County Office of Emergency Services (HCOEM) confirmed that multiple fire departments, including local teams and state responders, are actively working to control blazes in the region.
The fires are located in areas between Sage Hill on FM 150 West in Kyle, Ruby Ranch Road, and FM 967 near Buda. Authorities are focused on containing the fires to prevent them from spreading further.
Evacuations ordered in affected areas of Hays County
In response to the fire’s progression, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents living within a half-mile radius of the 4400 block of FM 150. The evacuation was initiated by the HC Wildland Task Force, who are working in coordination with local and state officials.

At 5:25 p.m., emergency officials confirmed that the fire remained contained within the Onion Creek area, and no structures were reported to be at risk. For those affected by the evacuation, the Southern Hills Church of Christ at 3740 FM 967 has been designated as a shelter.
Firefighters battle additional blaze in Kyle; evacuation order lifted
Simultaneously, the Austin Fire Department is responding to another major fire along Engelke Road in Kyle. Although an initial evacuation order was issued earlier in the day, it has since been lifted as firefighters gain control of the situation. Hays County deputies are assisting the Austin Fire Department in managing the ongoing efforts to contain the fire.
