Rescheduled concert dates and locations
Joel's tour will resume on July 5, 2025, at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Fans with tickets to the postponed shows in cities like Toronto, Detroit, Syracuse, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Salt Lake City, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and Charlotte can expect new dates either later in 2025 or into 2026. Nearly all affected shows have already been rescheduled.
The Piano Man recently wrapped up his performance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on February 22, 2025. The concert featured a mix of classic hits like “Only the Good Die Young” and “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” alongside deeper cuts such as “Zanzibar” and “Vienna.” While performing “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” Joel had a brief stumble, but he quickly recovered and continued the performance.
Joel's latest music and legacy
Although Billy Joel hasn’t released new material in recent years, he surprised fans with the release of “Turn the Lights Back On” in 2024, his first original track since 2007. The song was co-written and produced by Freddy Wexler, a longtime fan of Joel’s music. “It’s such an honor,” Wexler shared with Rolling Stone. “I think he partly did it for me. He really liked the song.”
The song made its live debut at the 2024 Grammys, and Joel performed it at subsequent shows before removing it from rotation in mid-2024. Despite the absence of new material, Billy Joel remains a major draw for audiences, continuing to headline stadiums across North America and Europe.

Reflecting on his career, Joel expressed his amazement at the continued success of his live shows. "I’ve gone onstage and said, ‘I don’t have anything new for you, so we’re just going to play the old stuff,’” Joel said in a 2019 Rolling Stone interview. “The audience goes, ‘Yeah!’”
Joel shared that he often finds it surreal to perform in front of tens of thousands of fans, remarking, “I’ll be sitting in the stadium looking out at 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 people, thinking, ‘What the hell are they all doing here? Why now?’” His recognition of being an “anachronism” in the industry gives his performances a unique value for his audience.
