The FBI has established a specialized task force to investigate a series of attacks targeting Tesla vehicles and dealerships across the United States. This initiative, in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), aims to address incidents of arson, vandalism, and other forms of violence directed at the electric vehicle manufacturer.

The task force comprises ten members, including special agents and intelligence analysts from both the FBI and ATF. Their primary objective is to identify and apprehend individuals responsible for these attacks, which have been classified as acts of domestic terrorism. To date, 48 incidents have been reported this month, with seven currently under active investigation.

These attacks coincide with escalating public protests against Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) within the Trump administration. The formation of DOGE has led to significant job cuts since its inception in January, fueling public dissent.

Trump demands harsh penalties as FBI tracks Tesla attack suspects

President Donald Trump has condemned the perpetrators, referring to them as "sick terrorists" and suggesting severe penalties, including potential imprisonment in facilities akin to those in El Salvador. He expressed eagerness to see these individuals sentenced to 20-year prison terms for their actions against Elon Musk and Tesla.

As the investigation progresses, the task force is utilizing security footage and cellphone data to track down suspects. Three individuals have been arrested thus far. Authorities are also monitoring online platforms, including an anarchist blog advocating for violence against Tesla and a doxxing site targeting Tesla employees. A protest dubbed "Tesla Takedown" is scheduled for March 29, raising concerns about potential further incidents.
