On Tuesday afternoon, a box truck crashed into a building and struck several pedestrians in Boston's Chinatown neighborhood, injuring at least six people. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m., causing significant disruption in the area. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash followed by screams as bystanders rushed to help the victims.

Boston Emergency Medical Services reported that four individuals were transported to local hospitals, with two in critical condition, while two others received treatment at the scene. The severity of the injuries has raised concerns about the victims' recovery. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of those injured but assured the public that medical teams are providing the best possible care.

The Boston Fire Department stated that the Penske rental truck collided with multiple poles before becoming wedged between a pole and the building. Firefighters had to extract the trapped driver from the cab, highlighting the crash's intensity. Officials said it took nearly an hour to safely remove the vehicle and secure the area to prevent further hazards.

Penske investigates Boston truck crash as authorities seek public assistance

Penske spokesperson Randolph Ryerson acknowledged the incident, noting that the truck was rented to a commercial trucking company. He emphasized Penske's commitment to cooperating fully with authorities during the investigation. The company is also reviewing its rental procedures to determine if additional safety measures are needed.

Authorities have not yet released the driver's identity or the circumstances leading to the crash.
