Donald Trump authorizes military actions along the border with Mexico
On the first day of Trump’s government, he ordered to Armed Forces increase the military presence on the border. Thousands of militaries were sent here as part of the president administration.

The president Donald Trump sent a memorandum to four federal bosses on the night of Friday the 11th. This action permit to Armed Forces takes the federal lands along the border with Mexico for exercises militaries.
The memorandum that was sent to the Secretary of the Interior Dou Burgum, the Secretary of National Security Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and the Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, drive to those secretaries to give the control to Armed Forces on those places.
Internal policy regarding the memorandum
Through the memorandum, Trump announced national emergency on the border. For this reason, it´s necessary for the president install militaries bases on those areas.
The document grants power to the Department of Defense under the Roosevelt Reserve, that is a 60-foot (18 meter) strip of land along the border to militaries purpose. It includes building a border wall and install detention and monitoring equipment.
While it is true this mandate initially applies only to a limited sector of federal lands, Hegseth can extend activities along the border at any time. It can be possible under the memorandum of additional federal lands.
Migration in the United States
The migration situation in the United States is a big challenge for the United States. There are 14 million of undocumented immigrants on this country.
With regard to this new order, the migrant people who cross that area would be held for trespassing into a military zone. This action was traditionally carried out by the Federal Forces but now it will be carried out by the Armed Forces
The militaries are prohibited apply Posse Comitatus Act. of 1878, which supports the no intervention on civilians. However, by being declared a ‘detention’ area, the Department of Defense could bypass that law.
