White House declares Kilmar Abrego Garcia "Will never return" to the United States

Despite a court ruling requiring the U.S. government to facilitate the return of Kilmar Ábrego García, the White House announced he will not be allowed back into the country.

A controversial immigration case has reignited tensions between the White House and critics of the Trump administration’s border policies. Kilmar Ábrego García, a man mistakenly deported to El Salvador, is now at the center of a legal and political firestorm after the White House declared publicly that he “will never return” to the United States.

The announcement, made on the White House’s official X account, comes despite a federal judge’s order — supported by the U.S. Supreme Court — requiring the government to facilitate Ábrego García’s return. The administration remains defiant, citing national security concerns and claiming García has ties to the MS-13 gang, an allegation his lawyers strongly deny.

Trump administration won't send Abrego Garcia back to America

The White House stated on social media this Friday that Kilmar Ábrego García is no longer in the United States — and "will never return."

On its official X account, the White House posted an edited screenshot of a New York Times article reporting on Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen's visit with Ábrego García in El Salvador. The original headline was crossed out and replaced with the caption: “Senator meets with undocumented MS-13 deportee in El Salvador who will never return.”

“We fixed it for you, @NYTimes. Oh, and by the way, @ChrisVanHollen, he’s NOT coming back,” the post read.

Senator Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on Thursday, where he met with Ábrego García — who was mistakenly deported and sent to the country’s high-security mega-prison. A federal judge had previously ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” his return from the Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot), an order largely upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Top Trump officials have pushed back in recent days, arguing that Ábrego García is a Salvadoran citizen and should remain in El Salvador.

“He’s a Salvadoran citizen, he’s in El Salvador — he’s home,” said Trump’s so-called “border czar” Tom Homan during an interview Thursday with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on The Source. “He’s a member of MS-13, which is now classified as a terrorist group, so we removed an undocumented MS-13 member with a final deportation order issued by an immigration judge to his home country.”

However, Ábrego García’s attorneys insist he has no affiliation with MS-13.
