New Jorge Chávez Airport terminal begins operations with first international flight from Buenos Aires
Lima’s new Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal launched its soft opening with the arrival of its first international flight. The terminal is expected to double its capacity to 30 million passengers annually and become the most modern in Latin America.

The new Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal launched its soft opening phase with the arrival of its first international flight, operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas from Buenos Aires.
The flight landed on May 15 at 7:55 p.m., marking a milestone in Peru’s airport infrastructure. According to Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Desilú León, this terminal will increase Peru's tourism competitively.

Desilú León, stated the importance of this new terminal for Peru, as it will set the country apart from the rest of South America, as the most cutting-edge in terms of modernity.
Additionally, along with the ministers of Transport & Communication, Economy and Finance, they were present for the first landing ever in the terminal. The flight, which came from Buenos Aires, Argentina, arrived at 7:55 p.m local time, with more than 160 passengers in " Aerolíneas Argentinas".

According to Desilú León, the new Peruvian terminal will double the airport's annual passenger handling, double. From 15 million to almost 30 million, with the goal of surpassing 40 million in its second year.
While the terminal is still in its trial phase, the international flights will not be too many. Daily, the airport will handle from 8 to 10 international flights with carriers like: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Air Europa, Volaris, and Arajet; at least until June 1, when the soft opening ends and is time for the full opening.
