Donald Trump confirms 'Golden Dome' missile defense system by end of term
President Donald Trump unveils the 'Golden Dome,' a $25 billion missile defense system designed to protect the U.S. from advanced threats including hypersonic weapons and space-based attacks.

President Donald Trump has revealed plans for a cutting-edge missile defense initiative called the 'Golden Dome.'
The system aims to provide comprehensive protection against emerging aerial threats such as ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and hypersonic weapons. The president expects the system to become operational before his term ends.
'Golden Dome' will cost $25 billion
The official design has already been selected, months after Trump first proposed the defense system in January.
While the initial amount of $25 billions is the new budget, the administration has estimated that this sum could turn into $175 billion or even exceed half a trillion dollars over the next two decades.
'Golden Dome' challenges: cost, technology, and leadership
The U.S.'s "Golden Dome" is inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome, which is built in a much smaller scale. That is why the U.S. version will be significantly more expensive, as it would be covering a more a lot more of geographic space.
The U.S. Space Force will oversee the program, with General Michael Guetlein leading the project to centralize command and operations.
