Argentina: woman sentenced to life for stepson’s stabbing death
Nora Marta Lozano, sentenced to life in prison for stabbing her disabled stepson 28 times and lying to police in Bahía Blanca, Argentina.

Bahía Blanca's Criminal Court No. 2 sentenced Nora Marta Lozano to life in prison for the murder of Jorge Scali, his stepson with visual and intellectual disabilities. The brutal murder and the lies that followed were enough to outrage the community and establish it as one of the most shocking cases in Southern Argentina.
The judges stated they had enough evidence to prove that, on September 17, 2022, the suspect took his stepson out of the nursing home where he lived in Carmen de Patagones, and later attacked him with a knife, stabbing him 28 times on his chest and back. The body was later abandoned in a eucalyptus forest in the Villano district.
Nora Marta Lozano's story did not convince the police
Reports showed that Jorge Scali, 51, received 28 stab wounds. However, as the body was found many months after the incident and was already in decomposition, the initial forensic investigation got complicated.
On July 27, 2023, almost a year later, Lozano reported the "disappearance" of his stepson, claiming he got lost on the cementery. Nonetheless, the late report aroused suspicions that led the police to search inside her home, where they found 2 fire weapons and incriminating items.
Nora Marta Lozano's confession
When she realized she was not going to make it unscathed, Nora Lozano confessed the murder of his stepson. The prosecutor's office presented testimonies and enough evidence, as well as a timeline which explained how she was able to kill Scali.
She was charged with aggravated homicide, filing a false report, and illegal possession of a weapon. While she has been sentenced to life in prison, this case lefts many unanswered questions such as the motive behind the crime.
