Tragic mass shooting in North Carolina: 1 dead and 11 injured, according to authorities
One person was killed, and 11 others wounded in a mass shooting at a home near Hickory, North Carolina, authorities report.

A devastating mass shooting occurred early Sunday morning near Hickory, North Carolina, when police were called to a scene with multiple victims from gunshot wounds.
According to Catawba County Sheriff's Office, twelve individuals were injured and one who had died. The identities of those affected have not been released as the investigation continues.

The Charlotte Observer newspaper reported that at 12:45 a.m., law enforcement from both the sheriff's office and the Hickory Police Department responded to a residence on Walnut Acres Drive, in the Mountain View area, about 57 miles (ca. 92 km) northwest of Charlotte.
“The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and … Hickory Police Department responded to a report of multiple persons shot at a residence on Walnut Acres Dr., which is located in the Mountain View community of southwest Catawba County,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
According to the sheriff's office, twelve victims have been identified, one of whom is confirmed dead; a second victim is in critical condition, and several others are still hospitalized.
“Twelve victims have been reported. One … is deceased. Another of these reported victims is in critical condition. Several others remain hospitalized.”
The Catawba County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation, along with the Hickory Police Department and special agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities have asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact them.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, the sheriff's office said.
