Florida is one of the states where U.S. citizens would most like to live. However, to be able to live "comfortably" in this state, a minimum amount of financial capital is required to establish themselves in Florida without any problems.

A SmartAsset survey concludes how much Americans need to earn to live comfortably in each state. To do this, the pollster used a 50/30/20 rule. This rule is based on the idea that 50% of income will be spent solely on food and housing, 30% on future desires or projects, and 20% on paying off debts or simply saving.

Florida families need over $200K a year to live comfortably, study finds

For the Sunshine State, the figure increases for households with two working adults and two children. In that case, families must earn at least approximately $294,000 per year. However, Florida is not the state that ranks highest.

The basics of living well in Florida are divided into two parts:

  • The salary for a single working adult is $97,386
  • The salary for two working adults (both a father and a mother) with two children to support is $217,651

Florida struggles with high living costs as wages lag behind inflation

This data means that residents currently living in the state need jobs that provide good wages to maintain a good quality of life, both for foreigners who decide to live in the state and for U.S. citizens themselves.

However, due to the massive inflation that has occurred in recent months, the cost of living has significantly outpaced wage growth. This problem is expected to be solved with increased productivity in the state and the creation of new jobs in the coming years, which will improve this situation.
