Costco is expanding its footprint in the U.S., announcing six new store openings across four states in March 2025. With this expansion, the retail giant is on track to surpass 900 locations worldwide, reinforcing its position in the global market.
Some retail chains in the United States have struggled to stay afloat due to inflation, which has led to declining sales and difficulties in maintaining their workforce and business operations.
However, other companies continue to expand, and some even kicked off 2025 by opening new locations. One such retailer is Costco, which has announced the launch of six new stores across four states in March.
With this expansion, Costco strengthens its position as a retail giant, headquartered in Issaquah, Washington. The company is set to surpass 900 locations worldwide as of February.

Costco announces new store openings in four U.S. States
This move is part of a broader strategy, as Costco previously announced plans to open 25 new stores during its 2025 fiscal year, which runs through August 31, to further its growth—starting with the U.S. market.
Costco has revealed its expansion plan for March, with new stores set to open in various cities on the following dates:
- March 1 – Sharon, Massachusetts
- March 7 – Brentwood, California
- March 8 – Highland, California
- March 13 – Genesee County, Michigan
- March 14 – Prosper, Texas
- March 15 – Weatherford, Texas
This expansion increases Costco’s presence in key states, strategically chosen to attract more customers interested in bulk shopping.
Currently, Costco operates 897 warehouses worldwide, with 617 located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. With the addition of these new locations, the company will reach a total of 903 stores, further solidifying its footprint in the global retail market.
Costco’s international presence is also significant, with locations in Canada, Mexico, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, China, Spain, France, Iceland, New Zealand, and Sweden.

The company is planning to open more stores for April
Costco is set to open three additional locations in April:
- Stuart, Florida (April 2025)
- Minami Alps, Japan (April 2025)
- Ardeer, Australia (2025)
This expansion aligns with Costco’s strong sales growth. The company reported an 8.2% increase in net sales, reaching $113.55 billion during the first 22 weeks of its fiscal year, which began on September 2, 2024.
