Massive egg recall affects 9 states: What you need to know about Salmonella contamination
Over 1.7 million eggs are recalled in 9 states due to salmonella concerns.

The August Egg Company has officially issued on Friday a recall for over 1.7 million brown cage-free and certified organic brown eggs caused by a potential salmonella contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned that salmonella could cause serious infections, and in some cases they could be fatal for those with weak immune systems.

These are the states affected by the egg recall are:

- California
- Nevada
- Arizona
- New Mexico
- Wyoming
- Nebraska
- Illinois
- Indiana
Additionally, if you have bought eggs at these stores, they might be contaminated with salmonella.

How to identify the recalled eggs?
If you want to know whether the eggs you bought might be part of the recalled group, you might want to check your calendar to know when did you purchase them.
Between February 3, 2025, to May 15, 2025, eggs were distributed with sell by March 4, 2025, and June 4, 2025, in California and Nevada.
However in Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona and Wyoming; eggs were distributed from February 3, 2025, to May 6, 2025, with sell by dates of March 4, 2025, and June 19, 2025.
If you bought your eggs during these dates, it is important to check the plant code numbers printed in the package. If it is either: P-6562 or CA5330 with Julian Dates from 32 to 126, you will have to return the eggs to the place you purchased them to get a refund.
