Social Security Update: $967 SSI checks arriving on February 28 – Are you eligible?
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is preparing for their next payment. Here is what you need to know.

The U.S. government is preparing to distribute Supplemental Security Income (SSI) checks worth nearly $967 to eligible recipients. These payments, set to go out on Friday, February 28, will provide crucial financial assistance to many individuals who rely on them for housing, utilities, and groceries.
For 2025, the maximum monthly SSI benefit for individuals is $967, reflecting a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA). Married couples who qualify may receive up to $1,450 per month, depending on their financial circumstances. This increase aims to help beneficiaries keep up with inflation and rising living expenses.

Why is the Payment arriving on February 28?
Typically, SSI payments are issued on the first of each month. However, since March 1 falls on a weekend, the Social Security Administration (SSA) is sending out payments a day early to ensure recipients receive their funds on time. This prevents any delays in accessing benefits.
Who qualifies for SSI payment?
SSI provides essential financial support to:
- Low-income individuals 65 years or older
- People who are blind or disabled with limited income and resources
While this early payment may result in a slightly shorter gap before the next disbursement, recipients should budget accordingly. The regular SSI payment schedule will resume in April, with the next payment arriving on Tuesday, April 1.
