Watch out, California! This city will fine drivers $406 for breaking this parking rule – Know the details
California drivers must be cautious about where they park, as LADOT and Metro Los Angeles have introduced fines for vehicles stopping in designated bus-only lanes.

California drivers need to be extra cautious about where they park, as the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) and Metro Los Angeles have launched a new enforcement program targeting vehicles parked in designated bus-only lanes.
The restricted lanes include Line 212 (La Brea Avenue) and Line 720 (Wilshire Boulevard), both equipped with cameras that capture the license plates of violators. This initiative aims to prevent delays caused by blocked bus lanes and improve the overall efficiency of public transportation in California.
Expansion of fines in Los Angeles
According to the city's official website, additional cameras will soon be installed on Metro Lines 910 and 950 (serving the J Line) and Line 70 (serving Olive St/Grand Ave) in the coming months. Parking in these designated bus lanes during operational hours will automatically result in a fine.
Initially, drivers who parked illegally in the restricted bus lanes received warning notices by mail, informing them that future violations would lead to fines. The first offense carries a penalty of $293, while repeat violations will result in a $406 fine.
The website also states that parking fines can be easily paid online. LADOT advises that any driver who believes the citation was issued unfairly can submit an appeal using Form CR-142 within 30 days of receiving the ticket.
