U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick confirmed that soon registrations for the so-called “Golden Card” a special visa for foreign investors contributing a minimum investment of five million dollars will "launch" in a couple of weeks. This effort led by Donald Trump aims to abolish the current EB-5 immigrant investor program by raising the investment level enormously.

Lutnick made this announcement during Axios' "Building the Future" event in Washington. During the announcement, Lutnick revealed that the registration will be via the website "trumpcard.gov", which is set to launch in less than a week. Those who meet the economic requirements and integrity requirements established by the United States Government will obtain a Golden Card, offering residency, and in time citizenship.

The Golden Card: A new gateway for investors in the United States

The 'Golden Card' visa will ring in a minimum five million dollar investment, which is more than double the one that is currently required in the EB-5 program, which is approximately 1.8 million. This legislation will present the government with large amounts of capital to use to lower the cost of paying off the country's federal debt of more than 36 trillion dollars.

Applicants must also demonstrate honesty, and honorableness as the process will require significant review in order to provide security and transparency in selection of benefactors. According to Lutnick; there should be a large demand from foreign investors with the proper financial means.

During his recent tour of the Middle East, Howard Lutnick actively promoted the Golden Card, highlighting its benefits and attracting investor interest. He noted that this visa not only represents a migration opportunity but will also open doors for business creation and job growth in the United States.

The official emphasized that the card “will attract great people, businesses, and opportunities,” and that the program will be a strong alternative to strengthen the U.S. economy. Registration for this visa will begin on the portal "trumpcard.gov," which will be active within weeks.

Gold Card: Key details on the process and benefits of the Golden Visa

The new program will replace the EB-5 system, offering a more exclusive and costly route to obtain U.S. residency and citizenship. The Golden Card will allow investors to legally establish themselves in the United States with a commitment to contribute significant capital. Among the benefits are:

  • Permanent residency with the option for citizenship.
  • Access to the U.S. market for entrepreneurs and businesses.
  • Digital registration process through an official website.
  • Rigorous evaluations to ensure transparency.
