Walmart adds popular hot dog restaurant chain to select stores nationwide
Walmart partners with Wienerschnitzel to open six in-store locations by fall 2025, expanding food offerings

Walmart is adding a new dining experience to its shopping offering with the help of Weinerschnitzel, the largest hot dog chain in the world. The Street is reporting that this collaboration will bring Wienerschnitzel’s chili cheese dogs, fries, and frozen food items into select Walmart stores, starting with six locations in fall 2025.
The list of participating stores includes franchise-operated restaurants in Alamogordo, NM; Bakersfield, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; Puyallup, WA; Reno, NV; and Tempe, AZ. The latest development is part of Walmart's strategy to enhance the in-store shopping experience. With so many competing dining options offsite, Walmart clearly is combining shopping with consumer-friendly and community-dining experiences.
New era of in-store dining
Wienerschnitzel, which has a prominent West Coast presence, says this expansion is a major milestone in its brand development. "This expansion into Walmart marks a new chapter of growth for the brand," said Shak Turner, Director of Franchise Expansion for Wienerschnitzel. "Each in store location will offer a full menu including Tastee Freez desserts.
Walmart is no stranger to fast-food locations, such as McDonald's and Subway options, but now appears to be entering a more curated food partnership process. A spokesperson for the company told Soy Carmín that this is an initiative to eliminate friction when shopping: "By collaborating with a brand our customers already know and love, we're removing friction in order to let customers enjoy a great meal with no additional stop."

Strategy to boost customer experience
This partnership is part of a larger strategic shift by Walmart to increase consumer engagement and traffic in stores, with mobile ordering through the Walmart app and takeout service being established at all of the new Wienerschnitzel locations for more convenience for shoppers.
Experts in the industry have posited that if this initial rollout is favorable, Walmart may extend the model nationwide. In a time when choice for consumers is increasingly constrained by economic factors, affordable shopping paired with a satisfying eating concept may be a competitive advantage for Walmart in the future of retail.
