As Super Bowl 59 approaches, it's not just the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs aiming for success—brands and advertisers are also looking to make an impact. With millions of dollars on the line, companies are hoping their Super Bowl commercials will leave a lasting impression on viewers. But how much does it actually cost to secure a coveted Super Bowl ad slot, and why do advertisers continue to invest at record-breaking rates?

How much do Super Bowl Ads cost in 2025?

For Super Bowl LIX, advertisers are paying nearly $8 million for a 30-second commercial slot, according to Peter Bray, founder and executive creative director of Bray & Co., who shared insights with CBS MoneyWatch. The total ad runtime for the three- to four-hour broadcast is estimated at 51 minutes, meaning hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on advertising alone.

The $8 million price tag reflects a significant increase from Super Bowl 2024, when a 30-second spot cost around $7 million. Similarly, the 2023 Super Bowl ad rate was $7 million, marking a 55% jump from 2019. According to Bray, Super Bowl commercial prices continue to rise, and he predicts that in just a few years, total ad sales for the event will hit $1 billion—a milestone never before reached in television history.

"I think in three years, it's going to hit a billion dollars in ad sales. And that has never before happened on the planet. That is the immensity of this event," Bray stated.

With rising costs and fierce competition, Super Bowl ads remain a high-stakes investment—but for brands looking to capture global attention, the price may be well worth it.

Why are Super Bowl ads so expensive?

According to advertising expert Peter Bray, Super Bowl commercials come with such high price tags because they represent the biggest advertising moment of the year.

It's the Super Bowl of the advertising industry as well," Bray explained to CBS News. "It’s the one time of year when the general public actually cares about commercials, making it an incredibly exciting opportunity for brands."

With the rise of social media, the impact of Super Bowl commercials has only grown. Bray points out that the fragmentation of digital audiences across various platforms has made it increasingly difficult for advertisers to reach a large audience all at once.

Super Bowl LIX will be broadcast on FOX and livestreamed for free on Tubi, ensuring an even broader viewing audience. To captivate these millions of viewers, brands rely on humor, emotion, and A-list celebrity endorsements to create memorable, culture-defining moments.
