The NFL is considering Taylor Swift as the top choice for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, following backlash over Kendrick Lamar’s recent performance, which focused heavily on his feud with Drake. Many fans at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans were reportedly disappointed, prompting the league to rethink its approach for next year’s event at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Why will NFL choose Taylor Swift for the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

According to a source who spoke with The U.S. Sun, the NFL is eager to secure Swift, believing she would deliver record-breaking viewership and a performance that appeals to a global audience without controversy.

“Taylor is the goal—we want her for the Super Bowl halftime show. This is something we should have done before,” the source stated. “It would be historic, and she’s someone everyone loves.”

One major criticism of Lamar’s show was that many in-person Super Bowl attendees were unfamiliar with his music, which dampened the stadium atmosphere. While some fans have suggested Carrie Underwood as an alternative, the source indicated that the NFL is focused on securing a worldwide superstar rather than a country music artist.

“Carrie is not in consideration. We need an international icon—someone the whole world knows—who can put on an unbelievable show. That person is Taylor Swift. We’ll do everything possible to make it happen next year.”

Will Taylor Swift perform in the NFL?

Swift’s close ties to the NFL—particularly her high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—have already made her a frequent topic of discussion among football fans. However, reactions to her presence at games have been mixed; she was booed by some fans when shown on the big screen during a recent event in New Orleans.

With a year to go before Super Bowl 2026, the question remains: Will Swift take center stage?
