Gold Cup 2025: USMNT and Mexico’s group stage rivals revealed for the CONCACAF tournament
The two favorite national teams in the championship—USA and Mexico—are expected to meet in the final match. However, if either team fails to advance past the group stage, they could end up facing each other in the second round of the competition.

This Thursday, the group stage draw for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup was held to determine the four groups with which the tournament will begin. The championship will kick off on June 14 and conclude on July 6 this year, with matches taking place in both the United States and Canada.
This tournament is especially important for the national teams of the USA, Mexico, and Canada, as they aim to gain international experience and measure their performance against other teams. This is crucial since all three countries will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and, therefore, did not participate in the qualifying matches.
How the 2025 Gold Cup will be organized?
The opening match will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The tournament will be held across 14 venues. Most of the stadiums hosting the games are located in the United States, with additional venues in Vancouver and other parts of Canada.
The format begins with a group stage of four groups, each consisting of four teams. After this phase, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The winners will move on to the semifinals, and the final will be played on July 6 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
This edition of the tournament will feature Fly, the official mascot. The official match ball is the “Gold Vantaggio 5000,” designed by Molten. The competition will also include an official anthem, “Tocando el Cielo” (“Touching the Sky”), performed by singer Luis Fonsi.
