Cubs defeat White Sox 13-3 at Wrigley Field with Crow-Armstrong’s 6 RBIs and strong pitching
Pete Crow-Armstrong's career-high six RBIs lead the Chicago Cubs to an impressive 13-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field.

Pete Crow-Armstrong had a home run and a career-high six RBIs to help the Chicago Cubs defeat the Chicago White Sox 13-3 on Friday. This was the first meeting of the season between Chicago's crosstown rivals, but the Cubs wasted no time showcasing their offense on a warm and windy day at Wrigley Field. Seiya Suzuki had two hits and two RBIs, while Nico Hoerner scored three times. Cade Horton (2-0) pitched five strong innings in his first career start, allowing three runs.
The Cubs have now won six straight over the White Sox, matching the franchise record. Miguel Vargas had two home runs for the White Sox, but it was not enough to stop the Cubs' offense as the month-long series against their crosstown rivals turned into yet another one-sided affair.
Cubs' offense comes alive with six-run second inning
The Cubs’ offense exploded for six runs in the second inning and quickly took control of the game. After one out, Michael Busch cheekily scored a run after sliding around Matt Thaiss on Moisés Ballesteros' grounder to first with runners on second and third. Then, Haerner reached base after Thaiss made a catcher's error that allowed another run to come across, and then Crow-Armstrong hit a three-run homer, his twelfth of the season, to right-field to push the Cubs lead to 6-2.
Crow-Armstrong's day was just getting started. He had a single in the sixth inning that scored one run thanks to the wind, and then he singled home two more runs in the seventh, pushing the Cubs lead to 10-3. The Cubs continued to score runs from that point on with a combination of White Sox mistakes and offensive production.

White Sox struggle despite Vargas' strong performance
Miguel Vargas hit two home runs for the White Sox, including a two-run shot in the first and a solo drive in the third. His performance marked his first career multi-homer game, and he also matched a career-high with four hits. Despite Vargas’ efforts, the White Sox could not keep pace with the Cubs, especially after Shane Smith (1-3) allowed six runs in the second inning.
The White Sox struggled defensively and couldn’t generate enough offense to challenge the Cubs. Smith was charged with one earned run and seven hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Despite the loss, the White Sox will look to rebound in Saturday’s matchup against the Cubs.
