When is the Stranger Things release date?
The release date for Stranger Things Season 5 is set for 2025, according to Variety. Netflix celebrated the milestone with a teaser video on Stranger Things Day, confirming the premiere date for 2025 and unveiling the titles of all eight episodes. What to expect in Season 5?
The season's first episode, “The Crawl,” initially teased in 2022, will launch the final chapter. Episode 2, “The Vanishing of _____,” seems to echo the series' first episode, “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” hinting at the mysterious disappearance of another character, though their identity remains unclear.
Episode 3, “The Turnbow Trap,” could reference a location seen in the Upside Down, while Episode 4, “Sorcerer,” draws from Stranger Things' Dungeons & Dragons origins. Episode 5, “Shock Jock,” is likely a nod to the controversial radio personalities of the 1980s, such as Howard Stern. Fans even saw the cast filming at an abandoned radio station in January.
The title of Episode 6, “Escape from Camazotz,” may be a reference to the mind-controlling villain from A Wrinkle in Time, Camazotz. The season finale, “The Rightside Up,” seems to be a full-circle moment for the series, connecting back to the Upside Down, while the penultimate episode, “The Bridge,” suggests a stronger link between the real world and the parallel universes.
The teaser also reveals a time jump from March 1986, the setting of Season 4, to November 1987 for Season 5. After production delays caused by the Hollywood strikes, fans are eager to see how the show will address the aging of its cast, who began the series as children in 2016 but are now well into their 30s.
