Attention, USA! Popular laundry detergent recalled due to bacteria contamination
The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), highlights potential risks to those with weakened immune systems.

A recall of a popular household item has sent ripples through consumers, leaving many questioning the safety of the everyday products they trust. With over 16,000 bottles affected, this issue has raised concerns about something lurking within a seemingly innocent product.
The culprit? Woolite Delicates laundry detergent. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall after the product was found to contain potentially harmful bacteria, prompting swift action from the company to protect consumers.
Which Woolite products are impacted?
The recall specifically targets 50-fluid-ounce bottles of Woolite Delicates detergent with lot codes S24364, S24365, and S24366, sold exclusively on Amazon. The affected products have SKU number 62338-72724 and feature white bottles with light pink labels and caps. The lot code is located at the top of the bottle’s back.
These bottles were sold in January 2025 for prices ranging from $14 to $17.
The recalled detergent may contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, which are environmental organisms typically found in soil and water.
The CPSC warns that individuals with weakened immune systems or those with medical devices could be at risk for serious infections from exposure to these bacteria, which can enter the body through the eyes or any skin wounds. However, healthy individuals are generally not affected.
What should consumers do?
Consumers who purchased the recalled detergent should stop using it immediately and contact Reckitt Benckiser LLC for a full refund.
To receive a refund, consumers must write “Recalled” and their name in permanent marker on the back of the bottle, take a photo showing the UPC and lot code, and email the image to ConsumerCare_USA@reckitt.com.
After receiving the refund, consumers should tightly seal the bottle and dispose of it in the trash. The CPSC advises against emptying or recycling the product bottle.
For further information, consumers can reach Reckitt at 800-228-4722 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit www.woolite.us/Voluntary-Recall/.
