On April 8, 2025, Jillian Shriner, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles following a police chase. The incident occurred when police responded to a hit-and-run case and found Jillian, armed, outside her home. Despite commands to drop her weapon, she aimed it at officers, prompting them to open fire, injuring her in the shoulder. Jillian was later arrested on charges of attempted murder.

In March 2025, she shared her ongoing battle with cancer, expressing gratitude for the support she received.

The situation unfolded when three suspects involved in a hit-and-run fled to a residential area, where Jillian, holding a gun, exited her home. She did not follow orders to drop the weapon and pointed it at officers, prompting them to shoot. After being injured, she returned inside and later emerged with the family's nanny before being taken into custody.

Police recovered a 9mm handgun and clarified that Jillian was not connected to the hit-and-run incident. Fortunately, no officers or civilians were injured. Jillian was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound before being released from custody.

Scott and Jillian Shriner, who have been together since 2005, live in Los Angeles with their two children. The family has not commented publicly on the incident, which has gained attention due to Jillian's identity as the wife of the well-known musician.
