Humam Sakhnini appointed CEO of Discord as Jason Citron transitions to CEO Advisor role
Discord announces Humam Sakhnini as its new CEO, effective April 28, 2025. Co-founder Jason Citron transitions to CEO Advisor, continuing his role on the Board of Directors.

Discord, the leading communications platform for gamers, has officially announced the appointment of Humam Sakhnini as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 28, 2025.
Sakhnini, who brings over 15 years of experience in the gaming industry, will also join Discord’s Board of Directors. Jason Citron, who co-founded Discord and has served as its CEO since its inception, will transition to the role of CEO Advisor while remaining on the Board.
Jason Citron’s career at Discord
Jason Citron has been a key figure at positioning Discord in the gaming ecosystem. With more than 200 million monthly active users, Discord has succeeded at its mission of connecting gamers through voice, video, and text. Citron has shared he has every confidence in Sakhnini’s ability to lead Discord through his gaming industry expertise and strategic vision.

Humam Sakhnini is Discord's new CEO
Sakhnini is not new to the gaming industry. He was a Vice Chairman at Activision Blizzard, where he managed a multi-billion-dollar portfolio in some of the biggest gaming franchises such as:
- Call of Duty
- World of Warcraft
- Candy Crush.
As Discord's new CEO, Sakhnini aims to continue strengthening the platform's foundation. He also states that he is very excited to work with this new team. “I’m excited to work with the talented team at Discord to scale the business while staying true to its core mission and the unique connection it shares with gaming communities,” Sakhnini said.
