A tragic incident occurred in Chatham, Illinois, when a vehicle crashed into the YNot after-school program building. The driver allegedly plowed through one side of the facility and exited through the other, causing significant destruction. Four individuals, including children as young as 4 years old, lost their lives. The victims ranged in age from 4 to 18. Additionally, six others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. ​

The driver, who was uninjured, was taken into custody at the scene. According to Deputy Chief Scott Tarter of the Chatham Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. The vehicle first struck three individuals outside before crashing through the building and hitting another person inside, then exiting from the opposite side. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. ​
