What happened on NYC subway?
The 25-year-old woman was on the train for about 25 minutes before informing nearby passengers that she was about to give birth, according to witnesses and sources.
“She started shouting, ‘I’m pregnant!’” recalled Bryanna Brown to NBC News, one of the passengers on the train.
When the train reached the 34th Street–Herald Square station, passengers requested that the crew stay at the station.
“One of the women told the conductor, ‘Don’t move the train. Don’t move the train. A woman is giving birth right now.’ That’s when I realized this was really happening,” said Brown.
As the situation unfolded, fellow passengers helped the woman deliver the baby. Videos of the event show the mother lying on the train floor while others held the newborn.

Riley Allen, another passenger, mentioned hearing the baby’s soft cry after she was born. While paramedics were still on their way, Allen assisted with post-delivery care.
“They were asking, ‘Does anyone have scissors? Does anyone on the train have scissors?’ because the train was still in motion. I said, ‘I have a pocket knife,’” Allen explained.
Several women came forward to help the mother, using Allen’s utility knife to cut the umbilical cord.
Identifying the mother and her background
The woman, Jenny Saint Pierre, a 25-year-old from Hallandale Beach, Florida, was later identified as the missing woman who had been reported missing in September 2024. Jenny, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, had been out of touch with her family for several months. Her sister recognized her from footage shared on social media, bringing relief and joy after months of uncertainty about her well-being.
Her family expressed their gratitude for the quick response from the subway passengers and medical teams, as they had feared for her safety for months. The delivery of her baby marked a moment of hope in an otherwise distressing situation.
