A harrowing crash in Manhattan’s West Village left an NYPD officer pinned between two vehicles on the morning of March 14, 2025. He is now hospitalized.

Crash leaves NYPD officer injured in Manhattan

At approximately 7:12 a.m., a 43-year-old driver operating a black Dodge Charger lost control while changing lanes on Seventh Avenue. The vehicle collided with a sanitation street sweeper before careening into a 26-year-old uniformed NYPD officer who was walking to his police cruiser.

The impact pinned the officer between his own vehicle and the Dodge Charger, creating a chaotic scene that left bystanders in shock. Emergency responders quickly arrived, extricating the officer and rushing him to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, he was listed in stable condition, though the extent of his injuries remains unclear.

The Dodge driver, who complained of pain, was also hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital before being taken into custody. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
