A Texas man, 34-year-old Chance Zane Chavez, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Kristen Chavez, after allegedly beating her to death with a clothing iron. The crime was discovered on March 12, 2025, when Houston Police responded to a suspicious event at their residence. Chavez, covered in blood, was arrested at the scene and now faces charges of murder, with a bond set at $500,000.

Chance Zane Chavez, a 34-year-old man from Texas, has been arrested for the brutal murder of his 32-year-old wife, Kristen Chavez. According to the Houston Police Department, the authorities were called to the couple’s home on Emma Forest Street on March 12, 2025, after reports of a suspicious event. Upon arrival, officers found Chavez standing in the doorway of their home, his arms and legs covered in blood.

Officers quickly secured Chavez and began searching the home for any injured individuals. Inside a bedroom, they discovered Kristen Chavez’s lifeless body. She had suffered blunt force trauma, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The investigation revealed that the weapon used in the crime was a clothing iron, which Chavez allegedly used to fatally harm his wife.

Kristen Chavez’s family described her relationship with her husband as strained. Her mother, Laura Bell, explained that Kristen stayed in the marriage hoping for change, despite the challenges. "She tried to see the good in people, even though they tried to take advantage of that," said Kristen’s brother, Devin Cervantes.
Chance Zane Chavez was arrested and charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. Initially, he was held in Harris County Jail with a $250,000 bond, which was later raised to $500,000 following a petition that garnered over 9,000 signatures. Kristen’s family expressed hope that Chavez would remain in jail throughout his trial, ensuring justice for Kristen.
