President Donald Trump congratulates Cardinal Robert Prevost on becoming the first American pope as Leo XIV, following the recent conclave in Vatican City.

In a historical event, Cardinal Robert Prevost has been elected as the new pope after the Conclave 2025. Prevost, now Leo XIV, is officially Pope Francis' successor and is ready to lead the Catholic Church. Much like Pope Francis made history as the first Argentinian pope, Pope Leo XIV has now become the first pope from the U.S.
Donald Trump, President of the United States, offered his congratulations to the new pontiff in a Truth Social post. Trump expressed his excitement over the significance for the United States to be part of history and called it "a great honor".

Who is Pope Leo XIV?
Cardinal Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV is 69 years old and born in Chicago Illinois. He started his ecclesiastical career in Peru and spent many years in the country. As an Agustinian friar, he graduated from Villanova University in 1977.
