India-Pakistan ceasefire timeline and implementation
Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's foreign minister, confirmed that the ceasefire will take effect immediately, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, head of India's foreign ministry, stated that it would start at 5 p.m. Indian time (1130 GMT). However, Jaishankar highighted that while military action has ended, India's uncompromising stance against terrorism would not change.
The ceasefire comes after an escalation of tension between both countries since May 7, 2025, where India implemented "Operation Sindoor" and launched missile strikes on Pakistan. This operation was after the Pahalgam attack on 22 April, where Pakistani forces attacked the Indian-administered Kashmir, killing 28 civilians, mostly tourists.
