While expressing hope for Biden’s recovery, Vance questioned whether Biden was physically and mentally capable of effectively serving during his presidency, reigniting debates about transparency and fitness for office after Biden’s term had ended.

JD Vance’s controversial comments on Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis
After Joe Biden announced his cancer diagnosis, many important figures in the U.S. political landscape stated their support to the former president. Barack Obama and Kamala Harris, were among the ones who stood behind Biden after the shocking news with social media posts.
However, on Monday, Vice President JD Vance on Air Force 2 whished Biden "the best" hoping he gets better. He continued questioning whether Biden was in the right headspace to be president during his mandate. "You can separate the desire for him to have the right health outcome, with the recognition that whether it was doctors or whether there were staffers around the former president—I don't think he was able to do a good job for the American people," Vance said.
Mixed reactions to Vance’s remarks on Biden’s health
Social media did no took very well to JD Vance's comments, as many users considered it was not the time to make such remarks. Even former Republican Representative Barbara Comstock said on X "Such a graceless, soulless ghoul @jdvance. Visits with Popes seem to have no impact. In case he hadn't noticed, his job approval is the lowest of VPs at this point in modern history, and well-earned."
Chris Jackson, Democratic political strategist, wrote "Jesus Christ. These people are just ghouls. Plain and simple." However, the editor-in-chief of The Federalist, said: "One billion percent agree. The many people around Biden need to be called in by Congress to answer some very serious questions."
