Maintenance worker acussed of help inmates to escape New Orleans Prison
A New Orleans prison maintenance employee, William Sterling, was charged with aiding the escape of 10 inmates after being threatened by one of them, Antoine Massey

William Sterling was a maintenance worker at the New Orleans prison where 10 inmates escaped on May 16th. The man is now accused of helping the prisoners escape. However, Sterling said that he was threatened by one of them.
Sterling identified Antoine Massey as the inmate who threatened him to stop the water flow in the cell. Massey has not been captured yet, but Sterling is being held at the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center.
More details of the escape
The plan was simple. One of the inmates was supposed to warn Sterling to turn off the water in the cell. With that done, they could manage to escape through a hole they had built behind the toilet. Sterling also stated that they used an "unknown apparatus to saw through steel bars" on the wall.
Without the maintenance man’s help, the plan would have failed due to the flood that could have been caused by removing the toilet. Because of that, the authorities would have noticed the intention and stopped the escapees, according to the affidavit's initial information. If he had reported the threat, the escape could have been stopped.
