Violent break-in at 'Beanie Babies' tycoon Ty Warner’s California home leaves woman in coma
A violent home invasion at Beanie Babies billionaire Ty Warner’s Montecito mansion left a woman with severe brain injuries in a coma.

Billionaire Ty Warner's house, located in coastal California, was the scene of a violent break-in. Authorities responded to a reported home invasion or vehicle theft on May 21.
Warner was not on the house when sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, as Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office stated. They also said there's no indication victim or suspect knew each other before the incident.
Woman left in a coma after assault
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman severely injured "outside the residence," and a suspect barricaded inside the home.
The unnamed female victim remains in a coma following the violent attack, and her identity remains unknown to the public.
Suspect barricades inside bathroom before arrest
When authorities realized a suspect remained inside the house, they had very little room for mistakes, as they did not know whether there were any hostages to take in mind before proceeding.
Soon, it was clear that the suspect, Russell Maxwell Phay, was the only one and had barricaded himself in a second-flood bathroom. A. crisis intervention unit tried to persuade the man to come out of the bathroom before he attempted to flee climbing from the window, and jumping to the ground where he was arrested.
