Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem hospitalized after allergic reaction
Kristi Noem has undergone emergency surgery at a medical center for an allergic reaction.

Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, was hospitalized in an emergency room in Washington, DC, after experiencing an allergic reaction, the Department of Homeland Security reported.
Noem, 53, suffered the reaction and was immediately taken to the hospital as a precaution. At this time, her condition is stable, and she is recovering well, according to DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin. CNN also reported that Secret Service agents were seen at the entrances outside the emergency rooms of the medical center where Noem is hospitalized.

Noem's political career includes serving as Governor of South Dakota and later representing the state as a congresswoman. After serving in both positions, she was selected by President Donald Trump to be part of his cabinet as Secretary of Homeland Security for his second term.

Trump's decision was confirmed by the Senate in late January of this year. This appointment was a pivotal moment in Noem's decision to make immigration a central issue in her campaign for a second term as President of the United States.

Noem also oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She called for the dismantling of the emergency relief agency, but Trump has stated that FEMA will be dismantled later this year.
