After cancelling all flights to the Tel Aviv Airport due to the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran last week, United Airlines has now decided to cancel all flights to an even more important airport in the Middle East.

Earlier this week, the airline announced that all flights between New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport and the Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates were to be canceled.

What led to United Airlines cancelling flights between Newark and Dubai?

The reason for United Airlines cancelling all flight to Dubai is very simple: the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. As the company faces millions of dollars in loses after the cancellations, it is worth noting that this measure will affect many people looking to travel to the Middle East.

The flights to this airport, is the only direct connection of United Airlines to Dubai, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area, and without a clear timeline to reschedule, the consequences could be potentially long-lasting.

What this means for the airline industry?

It is no secret that the ongoing situation in the Middle East has had an impact in our everyday life, one way or another. However, airlines and tourism have been the first industries to show us the consequences.

United Airlines is not the only airline who has cancelled flights to a Middle East destination, as many others followed their example. American Airlines has also announced a suspension of flights between Philadelphia International Airport and Doha, Qatar. However, their suspension will last until June 22, according to a spokesperson.

Delta Air Lines, has also suspended their services between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv, Israel. However, the airline has stated that their suspension will last until August 31.
