Pope Leo XIV urges global leaders to end the conflict in the Middle East: "humanity cries out and pleads for peace”

Seizing the opportunity, Pope Leo XIV delivered a powerful message just hours after the U.S. launched an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities in the middle of the Iran-Israel conflict, following over a week since the conflict began. “Alarming news continues to arrive from the Middle East, especially from Iran,” he stated.
On Sunday, June 22, at the Angelus address, the Holy Father reminded the mass attendees that there is an even greater need for "adequate humanitarian aid".

Pope Leo XIV appeals for an end to war
According to Pope Leo XIV, there is no need for war when diplomacy is a much effective method. “Let diplomacy silence the weapons!”.
“Today more than ever, humanity cries out and pleads for peace,” he said. The Pontiff also highlighted the importance to realize how much damage war inflicts on people. “War does not solve problems. On the contrary, it amplifies them.”
"[War] causes deep wounds in the history of peoples—wounds that take generations to heal. No military victory can ever compensate for a mother’s pain, a child’s fear, or a stolen future.”

Pope Leo XIV, also mentioned the other conflict the Israeli country has with Palestine in the Gaza Strip. According to the Pontiff, the daily amount of the suffering citizens "risks being forgotten" in this dramatic scenario.
Leo XIV, stated that it is imperative to "stop the tragedy before it becomes an irreparable abyss,” as the cry for peace demands "responsibility and reason and must not be drowned out by the roar of weapons or by rhetorical words that incite conflict.”
