Selena Gomez had an unforgettable moment at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards 2025 when she and the cast of "Only Murders in the Building" won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The actress and singer, who is 32, accepted the honor at the star-studded event in Los Angeles on Sunday.
It has certainly been an exciting couple of weeks for Selena Gomez. Two weeks ago, she announced her new album, "I Said I Love You First", with her fiancé Benny Blanco, after teasing that she was done with music. She later released “Scared of Loving You,” the first single from her upcoming album, and three days ago, she released the music video of her song featuring Gracie Abrams, "Call Me When You Break Up".

Upon hearing that "Only Murders in the Building had won", Gomez appeared visibly stunned and mouthed, “Oh my god.” Accepting the award alongside co-stars Michael Cyril Creighton, Richard Kind, and Molly Shannon, Gomez shared her disbelief, stating: "Wait, we never win, this is so weird."

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Gomez addressed the absence of her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who were not at the ceremony. “Well, Marty and Steve aren’t here because they don’t really care,” she joked, before continuing: “But I just don’t know what to say… Thank you to Marty and Steve for helping raise me.”
Gomez further expressed her gratitude, saying, "I’m genuinely so grateful (to) everybody, the writers. Everyone deserves this, and I take it home for all of us, and I’m bringing this back to New York for season five, thank you so much."
"Only Murders in the Building" continues to shine
"Only Murders in the Building" has quickly become a fan favorite, with its unique blend of comedy and mystery. The show, which has featured star-studded guest appearances from celebrities like Sting, Meryl Streep, and Tina Fey, has run for four successful seasons. Though the series has been nominated for 16 Golden Globe Awards, it has yet to win, despite earning widespread acclaim. On the other hand, the show has won seven Emmys out of 49 nominations, including a win for Nathan Lane as local deli owner Teddy Dimas.
In addition to the ensemble win, Canadian-born Steve Martin, aged 74, took home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series award for his role as the eccentric theater producer Oliver Putnam.
