Which baby girl name is more popular in California in 2025?
For 2024, Mia has surpassed Olivia to be the most popular girl's name in California, with Olivia dropping to second after being number 1 since 2019.
For boys, Liam has surpassed Noah for number 1, keeping up their rivalry for the seventh straight year in California.
California's top 10 boys' names saw the availability of Ezra and Lucas and Ethan rather than Elijah, Ezekiel, and Benjamin. Thus, Benjamin, Elijah, and Ezekiel are now ranked 10th, 11th, and 12th about the most popular boys' names.
According to the Social Security Administration report, which comes out each May, California's recording of names is in line with almost all the United States.

Most popular baby names in the U.S. for 2025
The most popular boys' names, across the USA, were Liam and Noah, and they were followed by Olivia and Emma for girls. Mia ranked fifth across the United States.
Over the last few years, the top 10 girls names have stayed consistent with only slight ranking changes. Amelia has climbed from 9th to 7th place. Sofia and Sophia continue to rank high in the top 10, not just in California but across America.
