Lea Michele shuts down reading rumor by proving she can read on video
Lea Michele addresses the viral rumor about her inability to read by proving it false during a podcast.

Lea Michele, the star of "Glee," is putting an end to the viral rumor that she cannot read, a theory that has persisted online since 2017.
On May 7, during an appearance on the "Therapuss with Jake Shane" podcast, Michele addressed the accusation head-on, demonstrating her ability to read aloud from cue cards to silence the conspiracy theorists.
'Leah Michele can't read' theory
Jaye Hunt and Robert Ackerman shared a video on their podcast where it was suggested that Michele couldn't read or write. While the theory existed way before, due to claims in Naya Rivera's book "Sorry Not Sorry," which mentioned Michele allegedly refusing to improvise scenes on the set of "Glee;" the rumor gained popularity due to the podcast.
However, Michele has previously addressed the rumor in a comedic way, suggesting she had to call "Spring Awakening"'s co-star, Jonathan Groff, to read her the comments on her social media.

This time, she decided to finally debunk the rumors, proving she can read during her interview with Jake Shane.

To put the rumors to rest, Michele took a proactive step during the podcast, reading aloud from the cue cards in real-time. She quipped that while some might still doubt her ability to read, the video would not be enough to convince everyone. "The theories are going to be like, 'Jake called her in advance, this doesn't prove anything,'" she said.
Despite that, Michele was determined to show that the claims were unfounded. Michele also shared that "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy was the first to bring up the rumor to her. In their conversation, Murphy asked if Michele had heard about the theory, to which she replied that she hadn’t.
