The ongoing legal feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, co-stars of the 2024 film "It Ends With Us," has intensified with fresh allegations involving pop superstar Taylor Swift. According to new court filings submitted on Wednesday, Baldoni’s lawyers claim that Lively threatened her longtime friend Swift if she did not publicly support her amid the legal dispute.

The allegations were disclosed in a document obtained by People, where Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, asserted that Lively tried to influence Swift to delete specific text messages and issue a statement of support. Lively’s legal team, however, strongly denied the claims, calling them “categorically false” and attributing them to anonymous, unreliable sources.

New legal claims involving Taylor Swift

According to the documents, Baldoni’s legal team claims that Blake Lively attempted to use her close relationship with Taylor Swift as leverage in the legal proceedings. Freedman alleged that Lively’s lawyers contacted Swift’s legal team, pressuring her to publicly support Lively and suggesting that private text messages could be leaked if she refused. Additionally, the court documents state that Lively encouraged Swift to delete messages potentially relevant to the case.

These claims have been met with strong opposition from Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, who characterized the accusations as baseless and irresponsible. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Gottlieb stated that the claims were “unfounded, unnecessary, improper, and abusive,” and announced that Lively’s team would soon file motions holding Baldoni’s attorneys accountable for alleged misconduct.

Background of the dispute and film context

The legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni stems from their collaboration on "It Ends With Us," based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. After the film’s release in August 2024, rumors about tensions between the co-stars emerged. Lively later filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, which was met with a countersuit from Baldoni in January, alleging civil extortion and defamation. In that filing, he also cited involvement from Swift and Lively’s husband, actor Ryan Reynolds.

Baldoni’s team claims that Lively attempted to take control of the film’s production, allegedly rewriting key scenes and influencing creative decisions. One notable claim involves a meeting at Lively’s New York home, where Baldoni said he felt pressure from Lively, Reynolds, and Swift to accept a rewritten rooftop scene. A subsequent text from Baldoni to Lively—cited in the complaint—appeared to show him expressing gratitude while referencing their involvement.

Trial timeline and parties’ positions

Despite the growing tension and public scrutiny, neither party has indicated an interest in settling the case outside of court. The case is scheduled to go to trial in March 2026 in a New York court. As it stands, the dispute continues to draw headlines due to the involvement of high-profile figures such as Taylor Swift, who has publicly distanced herself from the conflict.

Swift’s spokesperson previously clarified that the singer had no creative involvement in It Ends With Us beyond licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” for a scene and trailer. The statement also dismissed Baldoni’s legal move as an attempt to sensationalize the case by associating Swift’s name with the proceedings. Meanwhile, representatives for both Baldoni and Swift have not commented further on the allegations.
