The Witcher 4: CD Projekt Red presents a spectacular gameplay demo
The studio presented an impressive technical demo of The Witcher: Polaris at the State of Unreal 2025 event

On the State of Unreal 2025 powered by Epic Games, CD Projekt Red, presents a technical demo of The Witcher: Polaris, the fourth installment in the saga. The demo uses Engine 5.6, a new game development software powered by Epic, and it was played on a regular PlayStation 5.
During the demo, the game presents over 300 non-playable characters (NPCs) at the same time, each animated individually and even interacting with each other and their actions. Despite the amazing visuals, CD Projekt Red explained that the game will not be released until at least 2027.
What could you see in the demo?
Ciri is now the main character of the game. The little girl has grown into a woman who now hunts monsters and investigates dark issues in a new region. The character walks through Vladrest, a new pier town in Qovir that was only mentioned in the previous games. The trailer also shows Valdrest, a well-known fan-favorite city, which has been stalked by a manticore.
But the most visual impact was on the NPCs. The Witcher saga has been known for its amazing graphics in its games. In this new chapter, these characters are more alive than ever. There is no limit to specific actions like walking or talking: NPCs react to the environment; someone recognizes Ciri and calls her "Witch," while another picks apples from the ground that others left behind.

Non-actual gameplay footage
Some fans suggested that Polaris will be released for the new generation of consoles. However, this gameplay shows that the game will be available on PS5. Despite the amazing visuals and graphics, since this is a technical demo, it is probable that the final version of the game could be less spectacular but still maintain some advances like NPC interactions.
CD Projekt Red has not announced an official release date, and they did not present more gameplay beyond walking through. There is no fighting or creature gameplay, which are important aspects of The Witcher saga. This new chapter promises more adventure, newly unveiled places, and a new threat that Ciri must defeat.
