Orlando Bloom teases Pirates of the Caribbean return with Johnny Depp and original cast reunion
Orlando Bloom teases potential return of Pirates cast, including Johnny Depp, as Disney weighs reboot of $4.5B franchise.

Orlando Bloom has suggested a possible return to Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with the original cast members including Johnny Depp. While Bloom was promoting his new project Deep Cover, he spoke with ITV's This Morning and addressed speculation about returning as Will Turner in future installments of the Disney series.
"I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like," Bloom states. "I think it would be great to get the band back together." While Bloom made sure to mention that there is nothing set in stone, his statements lead me to believe that there is interest from the original cast and they are potentially available to broaden the franchise, which has not produced a film since 2017.
Depp’s role uncertain amid franchise revival talks
Bloom seems to imply that reuniting "the band," includes not only himself but also Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp. Depp, however, is the biggest question mark. Although he was in all five Pirates films, the actor said after his court battles with Disney and ex-wife Amber Heard that he would never return to Disney. "I'd never do a Pirates film again for $300 million and a million alpacas," he disclosed.
As we have seen, pirates can be controversial, but Disney could have some strong financial reasons to continue. The five films have made $4.5 billion dollars combined worldwide, making Pirates of the Caribbean one of the company's most successful franchises. Bloom and Knightley didn't appear in the fourth film, and they only had cameos in the fifth; therefore, both had a chance to return in a bigger role for the next films.
Bloom open to rejoining multiple iconic franchises
Orlando Bloom is used to coming back to well-known characters. He played Legolas originally in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and then he came back for the prequels with The Hobbit, and very likely, he will return again with The Hunt for Gollum which comes out in December 2027.
While Disney hasn't confirmed any casting or plot details for another Pirates film, Bloom's thoughts about returning, and acknowledged availability of the cast suggest that having them all back together for another film is possible.
Whether or not they will pair him back with Johnny Depp remains to be seen.
