McDonald’s removes this snack from its menu that became a national craze — But it’s no longer available
A recent VegasInsider report analyzing Google search trends shows the Big Mac remains the top searched McDonald’s item nationwide, while the Snack Wrap leads interest among discontinued items.

McDonald's, the iconic face of American fast food, turns 85 this year. To celebrate, a new report investigates the chain's most popular menu items from its modern-day essentials to vintage throwbacks and finds surprising trends in what enthusiasts seek on the internet.
While the Big Mac remains all-time favorite in most of the states, the retired Snack Wrap still holds dear to its fans. It is set to be revived in 2025, and the enduring popularity of the Snack Wrap proves the deep emotional affinity consumers have for McDonald's retired offerings.
McDonald's discontinued the Snack Wrap from its menu
The Golden Arches hold a unique position in American life, calling to us for pre-dawn hashbrown pit stops and consolatory fries after a long day. The iconic fast-food chain is celebrating its 85th birthday this year.
To mark the occasion, a detailed new report offers an insight into McDonald's most popular menu items—past and present—and confirms what many fans have long suspected: the discontinued Snack Wrap still has its fans. The research, carried out by VegasInsider, a Florida sports book website, uses Google search data with an exhaustive state-by-state breakdown.
No shock here, the Big Mac rules. It was the most searched menu item in 47 states and Washington, D.C. (A reminder: The Big Mac was first created back in 1967 by early franchisee Michael James "Jim" Delligatti.) In California, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Texas, though, the Happy Meal was most searched for when it came to meal interest.

Both the Big Mac and Happy Meal averaged approximately 110,000 monthly searches over the last year. Interest is not only in the current menu, however—almost as many Americans are nostalgically searching for items that have been discontinued.
Leading the pack of retired favorites are the Snack Wrap. Launched in 2006 and off the market for many years, it's back in 2025. The Snack Wrap tallied more than 33,000 monthly searches last year alone, dominating search patterns for retired offerings in 48 states. (Delaware cared most about Chicken Selects, while Idaho cared most about the Arch Deluxe.)
VegasInsider's Tobias Fanta told Food & Wine, "With the Big Mac being the most popular in most states for today's items and the Snack Wrap dominating discontinued searches, the study shows people what they want today and wistfully remember yesterday."
Big Mac is McDonald's well-known product
McDonald's started modestly in 1940 when brothers Dick and Mac McDonald began their initial San Bernardino "Bar-B-Q" drive-in. Far from the shiny worldwide behemoth it is today, it had carhops and a broad menu. Gradually, the brand grew to become a cultural institution with thousands of restaurants around the world.
Fanta concluded, "The Big Mac has always been a time-honored favorite, but the re-emergence of interest for the Snack Wrap attests that just because something is retired doesn't mean it's not remembered. The demand is evident, and the statistics solidly back its expected comeback.
To create the report, VegasInsider analyzed Google Trends and Keyword Planner data over the 12 months leading up to May 2025. They reviewed 32 current and 40 discontinued menu items, including “McDonald’s” as a keyword when relevant.
So, McDonald’s, if you’re paying attention—this is our official call for the Snack Wrap’s return.
