Costco announces stores closing on May 26
Costco, a well known warehouse club chain engaged in the membership-only club industry, has indicated it will close all US locations for one day this May.
The closure is happening on Memorial Day, May 26, in accordance with the retailer's practice of closing on other major holidays.
The company began as Price Club, opening its first store at Morena Boulevard in San Diego in 1976, and is now estimating more than 600 stores in the United States. Among all states, California has the most Costco stores at 142 -- roughly 23% of all U.S. Costco stores, according to ScrapeHero.
If you plan to visit one of those stores on your day off in May, you are going to have to reschedule your trip.
The retailer has announced it will close all of its U.S. stores for the day on Memorial Day (May 26 this year). This type of closure for one of the largest membership-only warehouse retailers is in line with the retailers' logic of closing down stores on major holidays such as Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
So if you loosely plan on stocking up for a Memorial Day barbecue or gathering, plan ahead to shop earlier in the holiday weekend.
